I can offer the following services:
- Restringing – as obvious as it sounds! See below for more details
- New grips or overgrips – as grips wear out its nice to get a new one
- Grommet replacement – the bumper guards take a lot of punishment when playing
- Weight customisation – I stock some lead tape that can be used to add weight
Restringing:
I keep in stock a small cross section of popular strings so I normally have something that will suit. I can always buy in any requests or you can supply your own string if that is what you want. The most common strings I use are:
- Tennis
- Babolat Synthetic Gut in natural / clear
- Babolat RPM Blast polyester in black
- MSV Focus Hex polyester in black
- MSV Swift polyester in white
- Technifibre Synthetic Gut in black
- Toalson Synthetic Gut in yellow
- Badminton
- Yonex BG 80 in white and pink
- Squash
- Technifibre 305
Grips:
Most racquets come with a standard grip which can wear out, my preference is to immediately cover that standard grip with an overgrip – a thinner and cheaper grip that can be easily replaced. I stock a few different grips and colours so you can provide some personalisation to your racquet.
Grommets:
The bumper guards on the head of the racquet and the grommets that the strings pass through will wear out over time – the guard because of scrapes whilst playing and the grommets because they are plastic and restringing might wear them out.
If the grommets wear too much then the string can rub on the actual frame of the racquet and the strings will break earlier than they should.
If I am able I can source replacement sets and get your racquet back to looking brand new.
Weight:
In vary rare cases people might buy two or more racquets with the intention of having the same racquet in the event of string breaks however with modern mass manufacturing the weights between two same racquets can vary by as much as 10g.
So I have some lead tape that can be placed on the racquets in order to ensure both are the same, there are also cases where a player wants to change the way their racquet feels and this can be achieved by adding weight in different areas providing different outcomes – like more weight at the top to help power, weights at 3 and 9 o’clock to help stabilise mis-hits etc.
